StoryThriving™: A Missing Ingredient for Success

Picture
StoryThriving™ is a proven narrative, identity, and story development program that challenges students to articulate a desired, realistic, and attainable future via a structured, step-by-step process of examining their present life practices and their background life-story.

Then, drawing on these twin strands of lived experience, the students develop the narrative building blocks to construct and articulate the vision of a chosen future. As a result, they come to see pathways to achieving their goals. The power of StoryThriving is that everything within the students' stories is based on identifiable experiences, skills, and beliefs. This grounding clarifies their future and offers sense-making to do what they need to do—in the present—to pursue this path.

Embrace StoryThriving™

StoryThriving™ can be experienced several ways. The process can be done one-to-one via video or in person. The process can be experienced in large or small groups. It can be tailored from three hours to a full day. Or as a workbook-driven process comprised of eight distinct sessions over an eight-week period.
StoryThriving is also available to integrated into high school and college classroom curricula.

Some Things We Know

Society prepares and assesses students on quantifiable measures and standards: State graduation exams, SATs and ACTs … but this is not enough.
  • School/Academic assessments do not prepare a young adult to integrate their story and personal identity to support future-focused decisions high schoolers must make.
  • Young adults often head for college carrying assumed and unarticulated beliefs about future success. Often, they have not forged a personal set of critically examined beliefs or an integrated sense of identity which will guide them to enact a future of their choice.
  • Young adults are frequently called upon to differentiate themselves in and through the competitive marketplace. The sea of test scores and other numeric descriptors they carry are inadequate to showcase their distinctive gifts, goals, and potential.
  • Young adults yearn for clarity of direction, confidence in their decision making, and a well-found belief that they can forge a life of excellence and enjoyment.
